GEAR UP Mississippi actively encourages students to set high academic expectations, stay in school, study hard, and take courses that will prepare them to enter and succeed in college. GEAR UP also provides educational support services to partner schools located throughout Mississippi. GEAR UP operates in collaboration with the Mississippi Department of Education, the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges, and community partners.

The Mississippi Association of School Superintendents (MASS) is a non-profit association whose membership is made up of the 152 public school superintendents across the state of Mississippi. The organizations’ Board of Directors is made up of two Superintendents from each of the old five congressional districts and five at-large members and five officers. The board meets on a monthly basis to set policy and give guidance for activities.

The Mississippi Center for Public Policy (MCPP) is an independent, non-profit, public policy organization based in Jackson, MS. MCPP works to promote and protect the concepts of free markets, limited government, and strong traditional families.
MCPP is an independent organization, but it is a member of the State Policy Network, which is comprised of more than 40 state-based think tanks around the country that approach issues from a limited government and free-market perspective. MCPP is also informally associated with "family policy councils" in more than 30 states which approach issues based on their impact on the traditional family.
MCPP is supported by voluntary, tax-deductible contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations. MCPP does not seek or accept funding from government sources for its projects or programs.

Mississippi Valley State University, located in Leflore County, is a Carnegie Master's I institution, which provides accessible, relevant and quality academic and public service programs.
