Donna's #6 Fresh Produce Market

For many travelers, Donna's #6 Produce is a migratory and mandatory stop on the road home. Each year thousands of Mississippi natives longing for a taste of home swing into a bustling road-side shop on US Highway 49 just south of Jackson. Open year-round, Donna's sells the freshest bounty of each season, harvested by local and regional growers.  From the start of the growing season, you'll find food that tastes like it should: grown in southern soil and tended from farm to table by people that love the fruits of their labor.

Every Day Gourmet

Everyday Gourmet

For a store that enjoys national recognition today, The Everyday Gourmet had an inauspicious beginning in 1981 at its first location in Woodland Hills Shopping Center.  They've been in the old Mr. Whittington's gas station for almost 18 years.  This 1500-square-foot space has a friendly neighborhood feel that allows customers to drive right up to the door.  Wvery now and then someone still comes in and asks for gas says owner Carol Daily.

Daily's initial inspiration for the store was her personal conviction that in the South, people entertain at home. "Entertaining and cooking are just part of our lives. It seemed to me that Jackson needed a store that focused on these two things," she says. Her intuition has obviously proven itself correct, since The Everyday Gourmet has gone on to achieve a national reputation as one of the South's premier gourmet cooking schools and gift stores, attracting renowned chefs, and opening its second store in 1994 with 5,000 square feet at Pear Orchard Village.

Shapleys Restaurant

Shapley’s Restaurant

Food. Wine. Service. Tradition.

For the past two decades, these four words have become synonymous with Shapley’s Restaurant. Since their humble beginnings as a 95 seat restaurant offering only two cuts of steak, their focus has always been offering the highest quality beef, prepared simply, emphasizing the natural flavor of the meat. This may be why Shapley’s is consistently touted as “the best steak” in the Jackson area. Their commitment to quality extends far beyond their steaks. Given their close proximity to the gulf coast, Shapley’s is able to acquire the freshest “local” seafood around, featuring delicately grilled sea bass and fresh tuna that is flown in daily. The combination of the finest ingredients and the culinary talents of Owner/Chef Scott Koestler make for a menu that is far beyond that of your “typical” steakhouse.

Everyone knows that the perfect compliment to a great meal is great wine. No one knows this better than Shapley’s. With a wine list boasting more than 750 selections, you are sure to find the perfect pairing for your meal. The wine program at Shapley’s is growing at a rapid pace in both size and reputation. Locally heralded as “The” place to go for wines that most people only read about, Shapley’s was recently awarded wine Spectator Magazine’s “Best of Award of Excellence”, making them one of the 400 restaurants in the world and the first in Mississippi to receive this prestigious award.
