Blackberry Records

Blackberry Records

In 1991, Melvin, Henry and Doug decided it was time to create their own label. To their dismay they met with discouragement from their legal advisors and Malaco Records, their record company at that time. Both Melvin and Doug spent many worried nights wondering if they could really succeed. They knew that having a business for the future when they stopped performing was a wise decision, but it was the biggest leap of faith they had ever contemplated.

Since their booking agency had been called Blackberry Entertainment, it was an easy decision to name the new record company. Blackberry Records was born in April 1991, and since that time the company's projects have received several Grammy and Stellar nominations. The first release "This Is Your Night" was nominated for a Grammy Award and won a Stellar Award.

Blackberry Records and The Williams Brothers have never looked back, and their mission is still the same as always: to spread the good news of Jesus Christ through anointed and professionally produced albums, and to be instrumental in taking the Gospel to the next level through ministry and education.

Book The Band

Book the Band

Couch and Associates, Inc. (CAI) began as Campus Attractions in 1962. Folded into what is currently Malaco Records, the company came under its present day management in 1985.  As Campus Attractions, this management represented the majority of the acts playing on SEC campuses.  At that time CAI worked as the exclusive agent for Better Than Ezra as well as the Hightops, a band whose members spun off to form Wilco (John Stiratt) and Blue Mountain (Cary Hudson).  As the company evolved, CAI became more focused on the social scene.  In addition to this, CAI also nurtured its position in the Blues community, managing Dorothy Moore and working closely with Blues Festivals and events throughout the country.  With industry links to Malaco Records, Waldoxy Records and international touring blues acts, CAI has a strong music industry presence.  Because of the expansion into the business of booking bands on the social scene as well as managing and booking artists in the Blues community, CAI adapted by changing its business name to Couch and Associates, Inc.  CAI has been providing music and entertainment not only for weddings, corporate events, banquets, fundraisers and collegiate functions all over the South but also to the Blues community internationally.

For most people, booking entertainment is a new and unfamiliar experience. It is not rocket science; however, it does take a general knowledge of the local music scene and an exhaustive list of contacts.  Because of the experience that comes with time, literally decades, and business associations that have come through its affiliation with Malaco Records and Malaco Recording Studios, CAI has this exhaustive list of contacts.  They book only the very best and most professional musicians.  They will help you find the right band for the right situation; they work to be sure that your band gets there on time, ready to play exactly what you want, how you want it.

Juana Records

Juana Records

Juana Records pronounced (WA- NA) was founded in 1975 by Frederick Knight and Clinton Harris.  Knight says the transition from songwriter, artist, and producer to label owner was a natural one.  Having scored big as an artist with his Pop Hit “I’ve Been Lonely For So Long” and “I Betcha Didn’t Know That”, Knight and childhood friend Clinton Harris formed Juana Records.

The first act to record for Juana was the Controllers who had a top ten record with “Somebody’s Gotta Win Somebody’s Gotta Lose”.  Then came Anita Ward’s mega hit “Ring My Bell” which launched Juana Records into the World Wide Sales Arena.

Juana’s entry into the Gospel Field came in 2000 with the release of Debra Snipes.  Having had very little previous recording and sales history, Juana Praise positioned Debra Snipes at radio and retail, thus showing it’s continued ability to break new unproven acts.
